Notes

'Arlet' apple (Malus domestica 'Arlet') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Bernhard Krapf bred it in 1958, and the fruit has yellow skin with large areas of red. It ripens in early September, and bees visit the spring flowers. Plant a second apple nearby, because it is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Hummingbird's mint, and Autumn fern.
