Notes

'Asao' clematis (Clematis 'Asao') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. The double flowers are rosy carmine pink with icy white veins near the yellow stamens. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Bee balm, Peony, and Black-eyed Susan.
