Notes

'Atropurpurea' joe-pyeweed (Eutrochium fistulosum 'Atropurpurea') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, rain gardens, meadows, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clump that grows up to 84 inches tall. Rose-purple flowers open in summer, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit them.

Pairs well with Pickerel weed, Royal fern, Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, and Sedge.
