Notes
Coastal plain Joe Pye weed (Eutrochium dubium) is a perennial for borders, meadows, rain gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil of most types. It sits low on the menu for deer. Pale pink to dark purple flowers open in summer, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit them. The plant grows 36 to 60 inches tall and has a fragrant scent.
Pairs well with Obedient plant, Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
