Notes

'Auguste Lemonier' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Auguste Lemonier') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Jacques Calot bred it in 1863. The fragrant, reddish violet flowers open in early summer on strong, upright stems with dark green leaves.

Pairs well with Royal fern, Spanish bluebell, and Gentian.
