Notes

'Auguste Villaume' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Auguste Villaume') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Crousse bred it in 1895. It bears large, full, violet rose blooms with a pleasant fragrance late in the season. The tall, erect stems are strong, so the flowers work well in a vase.

Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Indian grass, and Bellwort.
