Notes

'Aureus' peony (Paeonia 'Aureus') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its early single flowers are yellow with pink outer shades that give an apricot look. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Joshua Scholten bred this upright plant, and it needs no support.

Pairs well with White Swan coneflower, Big Daddy hosta, and Annabelle hydrangea.
