Notes

'Aurora' pear (Pyrus communis 'Aurora') is a tree for pollinator gardens and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open from early to late spring and attract butterflies, bees, and birds. The early fruit is grown for fresh eating and has excellent flavor. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second pear nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Apricot, Blueberry, Woolly yarrow, and Big bluestem.
