Notes

'Auten’s Red' peony (Paeonia 'Auten’s Red') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The full double blooms are velvety deep red, almost black, and fragrant. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Coralbells, Yarrow, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
