Notes

Autumn crocus (Colchicum cilicicum) is a bulb for borders, containers, and naturalized plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil of most types. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Rose violet flowers open from early to late autumn. The plant stays 3 to 6 inches tall and wide, and it needs little care.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, September Charm anemone, and Boston ivy.

Native range

Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon.
