Notes

'Avalanche' feather reed grass (Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Avalanche') is a grass for borders, containers, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil of most types. It is drought tolerant and needs little care. Purplish green blooms appear above the clumps and attract birds. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Virginia sweetspire, Bottlebrush buckeye, Ostrich fern, and Purple loosestrife.
