Notes

'Caspian' reed grass (Calamagrostis arundinacea 'Caspian') is a grass that forms a fountain-like mound. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Pink feathery plumes rise above the foliage in late summer and autumn. The plumes fade to cream, and both plumes and foliage turn straw colored and look good through winter. Leave them standing so beneficial insects have a refuge.

Pairs well with Cat mint, Panicle hydrangea, and Marsh mallow.
