Notes

'Aztec' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Aztec') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type blooms in early summer with large carmine-pink flowers and wide, overlapping petals. A rose-pink center holds staminodes tipped with bright gold.

Pairs well with Nepeta, Francee hosta, and Shrub rose.
