Notes

'Backlight' garden phlox (Phlox paniculata 'Backlight') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. It forms a clump up to 36 inches tall and blooms in early to late summer. The fragrant flowers attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Dense blazing star, Bee balm, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
