Notes

'Bandmaster' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Bandmaster') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears fragrant, single red flowers that measure about eight inches across. The petals show no white on the reverse side, and the color holds well. Gilbert H. Wild & Son introduced it in 1967.

Pairs well with Japanese spirea, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Little Beauty tulip.
