Notes

'Barbara Susan' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Barbara Susan') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Robert F. Schmidt bred it, and it bears single, medium pink blooms in early to late spring. The glossy, dark green leaves grow 36 to 38 inches tall, and the plant blooms reliably.

Pairs well with False Solomon's seal, Hairy aster, and Picture tulip.
