Notes

'Baron' peony (Paeonia 'Baron') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows about 27 inches tall and bears fragrant, single red flowers with a yellow center. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Baby's breath, and Prairie dropseed.
