Notes

'Baton Rouge' red-barked dogwood (Cornus alba 'Baton Rouge') is a shrub for borders, hedges, winter interest, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It grows fast with an arching shape and reaches about 4 to 5 feet tall and wide. Bees, butterflies, and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Astilbe, and Elijah Blue blue fescue.
