Notes

'Benita' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Benita') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, white double flowers have a light pink blush on the outer petals and open in mid to late spring. Plants reach about 39 inches tall and stand upright, so they need no support. Sulev Savisaar found it as a seedling in his garden.

Pairs well with White trillium, Western sword fern, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Hairy aster.
