Notes

'Berliner' Serbian spruce (Picea omorika 'Berliner') is a tree for specimen planting, accents, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly to 20 to 30 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide, with an arching habit. This evergreen keeps its color all year, and birds visit it. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Paperbark maple, Lenten rose, and Prairie dropseed.
