Notes

'Black Knight' scabiosa (Scabiosa atropurpurea 'Black Knight') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It shrugs off cool spells and light frost, though a hard freeze will damage it. This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy or loamy soil. The fragrant flowers draw butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The clumping plants reach 24 to 36 inches tall and make an elegant and uniform cut flower.

Pairs well with Flamingo Feather celosia, Blue fescue, Blazing star, and Gladiator ornamental onion.
