Notes

'Ostfriesland' sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Ostfriesland') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms, which appear from late spring into autumn. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The plant forms a clump and is drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Standing Ovation little bluestem, Jeana garden phlox, and Obsidian coral bells.
