Notes

'Black Prince' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Black Prince') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, single, deep crimson flowers open in mid to late spring. Side buds keep the bloom going for two weeks or more, and the petals hold their color until they fall. Stiff stems keep the plant upright.

Pairs well with False Solomon's seal, Royal fern, and Spanish bluebell.
