Notes

'Black Stockings' meadow rue (Thalictrum 'Black Stockings') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. Black stems rise above lacy green leaves and carry fluffy lavender-magenta flowers that attract butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The stems turn darkest in full sun.

Pairs well with Rainbow's End hosta, Autumn fern, and Gladiolus.
