Notes
'Black Tie Affair' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Black Tie Affair') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Single white flowers have narrow purple flares and frilly petal edges. They open in mid to late spring on stems with good strength. John and Dot McFarlane bred it.
Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Christmas fern, and Black Parrot tulip.
