Notes

'D.D. Blanchard' southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora 'D.D. Blanchard') is a tree for specimen planting, pollinator gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. Its conical shape and evergreen leaves give year-round structure, and its creamy white, fragrant flowers attract bees. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Birds visit too, and the tree tolerates salt.

Pairs well with Persimmon, Rose of sharon, and Sweet woodruff.
