Notes

'Blue Star' heath aster (Symphyotrichum ericoides 'Blue Star') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Powdery blue flowers with yellow centers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Blanket flower, Blue grama, and Paprika yarrow.
