Notes

'Brigadier Lane' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Brigadier Lane') is a shrub for borders and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Sir Peter Smithers bred it in 1994. The single flowers are carmine-pink with purple flares and open in early summer. It is a strong grower with no fragrance.

Pairs well with Wide Brim hosta, Mountain laurel, Jackmanii clematis, and Prairie dropseed.
