Notes

'Buttermilk' peony (Paeonia 'Buttermilk') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It blooms in early to late spring, and butterflies visit the flowers. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Paris coral bells, Damask rose, and The President clematis.
