Notes

Button eryngo (Eryngium yuccifolium) is a perennial for borders, meadows, specimen plantings, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Its blue-green, yucca-like leaves are spiny, and round greenish-white flower heads attract bees and butterflies. Seedlings can pop up everywhere, so remove seed heads to keep it in check.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Blue star, and Big bluestem.
