Notes

Camellia (Camellia oleifera) is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense evergreen with fragrant white flowers that open in early spring, autumn, and winter, and bees visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer. Give it plenty of room to reach its full size.

Pairs well with Strawberry tree, Carolina jessamine, and Red spider lily.

China and Indochina.
