Notes

'Cancan' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Cancan') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The ruffled, twisted violet-red flowers have black flares and a sweet fragrance. They open in early to late spring on a plant that reaches about 59 inches tall. Irmtraud Rieck bred it.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Queen of Night tulip, and Toad lily.
