Notes
'Catherine Emma' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Catherine Emma') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double blooms open in late spring with a large cream yellow heart cupped by soft strawberry guards. Small green carpels show when the bloom is fully open. Athrop bred it, and the plant stands tall and strong with good foliage.
Pairs well with Maiden pink, Sensitive fern, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
