Notes

'Center Stage Red' lagerstroemia (Lagerstroemia indica 'Center Stage Red') is a shrub for specimen planting, hedges, privacy screens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its nearly black leaves set off ruffled red flowers with yellow stamens, and it blooms on new wood to attract bees and butterflies. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Peeling bark adds interest in winter.

Pairs well with Dense blazing star, Little bluestem, and Blue wild indigo.
