Notes

Chaparral clematis (Clematis lasiantha) is a vine for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Creamy white flowers open in clusters, and silky seed plumes follow. It can climb to 20 feet and may die back in cold winters, but it will reemerge in spring. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Madrone, Hollyleaf cherry, and Bay laurel.
