Notes

'Charles McKellip' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Charles McKellip') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Bright red flowers open in early summer on plants about 31 inches tall. Brand bred it, and some growers still count it among the good reds.

Pairs well with Gooseneck loosestrife, Dalmatian bellflower, and Cinnamon fern.
