Notes
'Charles-Olivier' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Charles-Olivier') is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows to 36 inches tall and carries three flowers per stem. Each 6½ inch bloom has about 10 wine-red guard petals around a center of narrow petalodes in the same color. The flowers have a pleasing fragrance.
Pairs well with Limelight hydrangea, Royal fern, Pink Impression tulip, and Polish Spirit clematis.
