Notes

'Charles Toché' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Charles Toché') is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It stays compact and upright with short, strong red stems. The semi-double, violet rose blooms open in early to mid spring, and the color fades in sun. Auguste Dessert bred it in 1888.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Black Hero tulip, and Christmas fern.
