Notes
'Chenshan Feiyan' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Chenshan Feiyan') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Early in spring, upright stems carry single red flowers that face up and measure about 6 inches across. The frilled guard petals and the deep red new leaves add interest.
Pairs well with Siberian iris, Carnaval De Nice tulip, Blue fescue, and Little Lime panicle hydrangea.
