Notes

Chinese abelia (Abelia chinensis) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It bears fragrant white flowers in spring, summer, and autumn that draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Once settled in, it tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Azalea, Southern magnolia, and Carolina jessamine.
