Notes

'Chippewa' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Chippewa') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Arthur L. Murawska bred it. The double, dark red flowers are medium size and open from mid to late spring into early summer. Plants stand tall at about 31 to 43 inches.

Pairs well with Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, Sedge, and Spanish bluebell.
