Notes

'Chromatella' peony (Paeonia 'Chromatella') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It blooms in early to late spring with double yellow flowers that attract butterflies. Flower color and form vary from year to year, and some blooms show red or rose. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Obsidian coral bells, Jackmanii clematis, and Christmas fern.
