Notes

Clary sage (Salvia sclarea) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Its fragrant gray-green leaves form a clumping mound, and white to lavender flowers open in spring and summer. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Anise hyssop, Creeping thyme, and Feather reed grass.
