Notes

'Coe's Golden Drop gage' plum (Prunus domestica 'Coe's Golden Drop gage') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. Bees and butterflies visit its blooms in early to late spring. Jervaise Coe bred it in 1800, and the large, slightly oval fruit is grown for fresh eating and cooking. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second plum nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Crab apple, Royal Star star magnolia, Hummelo betony, and Gladiator ornamental onion.
