Notes

'Cologne' peony (Paeonia 'Cologne') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Early blooming semi-double flowers are bright pink and fragrant, with frilled guard petals, and the upright stems need no support. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Joshua Scholten bred it.

Pairs well with August Moon hosta, Queen of Night tulip, Little bluestem, and Blanket flower.
