Notes

'Commodus' peony (Paeonia 'Commodus') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Early blooming red semi-double flowers are fragrant, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The upright stems are strong, so you do not need to stake them.

Pairs well with Big Daddy hosta, Blanket flower, and Little bluestem.
