Notes

'Contorta' eastern white pine (Pinus strobus 'Contorta') is a tree for specimen planting, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. This evergreen has a conical shape and a rapid growth rate, and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Winterberry, Prairie dropseed, and Brown-eyed Susan.
