Notes

'Contorta' hazelnut (Corylus avellana 'Contorta') is a shrub for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows 8 to 10 feet tall with an erect habit. Its twisted stems stand out in winter, and bees and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Christmas fern, and Queen of Night tulip.
