Notes

Hazelnut (Corylus avellana) is a shrub for hedges, privacy screens, and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It grows tall and erect, so give it plenty of room to spread. Bees and birds visit it, and it is grown for its edible nuts.

Pairs well with Mandarin honeysuckle, Lenten rose, and Korean spice viburnum.
