'Count Althann's gage' plum (Prunus domestica 'Count Althann's gage') is a tree grown for fresh eating in food gardens and for bees and butterflies in pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. It blooms in early to late spring, and the fruit has a dusky red and mauve skin with a heavy bloom. Hr. Prochasta bred it in the 1850s.
